Unhappy bad milage

Ive got a 94 SL1 SOHC and im not gettin as good a milage as i feel i should. in 3wks ive filled up it up three times. i dont do that much driving, its mostly just to and from and than it sits most of the the day. if i drove around all that time id understand. ive given it a complete tune-up all except the belts and ive given it a fuel injection clean before i got it registered so i dont how the milage is supposed to be. but what i hear its suppose to be and the fact the it a four cylinder and a very low power i would think the milage would be better. any suggestions on what to do if anything? thanx

Re: bad milage

Well, start keeping track so we know for sure. Saturns only hold about 12 gallons and 2 of those gallons are reserve, so the gauge shows empty after burning 10 gallons. If your getting 30 miles/gallon city, you should be able to go about 300 miles on a fill-up.

Is the engine warming up properly? Under normal driving the temp gauge should read about half or so. If its less than 1/4 the engine isn't hot enough and the PCM is probably running it rich (more gas). Any SES lights? If your coolant temp sensor is bad, that can cause poor mileage also since the PCM isn't being told the temp of the engine and runs it rich.

Re: bad milage

tbi=throttle body injected.

if your getting around 35mpg, then you have no issues. your getting better gas mileage then anybody i know with a tbi. but both your trip odometer and normal odometer are busted?
