There are several things that could be done to it, but nothing that will get it near 250 HP. No one makes a turbocharger for a 2.0 SPI. You can put on a cold air intake, headers, performance chip and a low restricted exhaust system. Looking at a gain of only 30 HP. A turbocharged 2.0 would be putting out 243 HP at the wheel and the only one I know of was made from a blown Thunderbird. The user ID is Jeffescortlx and he has a website on this forum. He knows everything there is to know about putting a turbocharger on a Scort.

Re: any performance parts

i know a lot of people with SPI's making close to 250hp..you just have to make your own turbo kit.

Re: any performance parts

superchargers aren't overly difficult to put on, if you don't mind getting rid of your air conditioner. the mounts for the A/C are in a good spot, all you need is a bracket to mount an eaton to line up the pullies correctly, and get the plumbing, and you're good to go.

there's a company called Paeco that works with the ford CVH engine, that can pull 261hp out of a Naturally Aspirated 1.9L, but that's around $7k for the kit, and involves serious head work and lots of other expensive bits.

Not to plug other forums, but there are a couple others that have a lot of good information on them about turbocharging and supercharging the escort.

feoa.net and escortunderground.com are the sites.

I don't remember who, but I do believe that it was jeff who found that the DSM exhaust port spacing (from say, a 1G talon/eclipse) is basically identical to that of the 1.9/2.0. so, with some slight modifications, a DSM turbo header can be bolted right up to the escort.

but, I say search around more and do some more reading. With a SOHC 2.0L engine (~122cid), it's really not common to be pulling those kind of numbers, from any manufacturer...
