What Air Filter

2002 Rodeo 3.2. I'm getting the Denso plugs(PK16PR11) from sparkplug.com and want to get an air filter as well. The K&N is $45 and they have a Denso for $17.87. Is the cheaper one a no no , or doesn't make a difference?

Re: What Air Filter

Stick with paper. Those oiled ones are great if you want to mess up your MAF sensor.

even thoe the KN is reuseable and you will be saving money over time is it really worth it? K&N will lower your MPG (in the city). And the paper one is only a half tank of gas (in cost) you will spend once a year.

After doing the plugs and filter make sure you re set the ecu by disconnecting the battery.

Re: What Air Filter

K&N air filters offer nothing but extra debris and dirt that gets sucked into your engine and bearings.

Napa Gold, Puralator, and even Fram offer good OEM air filters. Personally, I like Fram and the Napa one's.

Re: What Air Filter

Question for Ryan:
I have recently changed plugs on 99 rodeo with champion and have driven about 150 miles since but i have not reset the ecu. Should i do it now? What does it do? I had changed filter about 2 years ago.
Thanks in advance

Right on. K&N will do nothing for a stock daily-driver. You can't beat FRAM for air filters. I recently picked up a carquest air filter for my trailblazer to the tune of ~$25! A few days later we were at walmart. They had FRAM for less than half that! The FRAM looked just like the factory filter I pulled out of it. Live and learn. I like Napa and Carquest for oil filters, but I wont buy an air filter from then again.

Re: What Air Filter

stick with fram filters....

k&n is just a nmae anymore...their earlier filters where good--but now they've learned that everyone will just pay for the name (and the sticker to put on the car)
