help with brake lights and signals

ok guys i need your help i bought a 1994 ga gt today and i cant figure out the signals i have none i checked all the flasher and fuses and all the basic stuff to no evil i also have no brake lights i do have a third brake light that is working but thats it i was reading is there any recalls on this problem or an easy fix for it let me know thanks the troll

I would assume your problem is the multi-function switch (turn signal switch) on the column, I have also heard rumors that switch sometimes affects the brake lights, it not a cheap part, but i'd start there, especially if the brake light bulbs are good. I've been told by a mechanic thats a good friend that they run a power wire for the brake lights thru the multi function switch, sounds strange, but if it were my car i'd start there.

well i called the dealer thhis morning and of corse its not a cheap fix its 154.26 to get that part so i am asuming the more you pay for it the more populare it is sounds like a good place to start looking going to go explore ing that option today take it apart and see whats in there i talked to the tech and he said there is a power wire for the brakes runing throw that switch now why would you do that just makes no sence well see what happens will let you all know later what the fix was......

The multifunction switch is available thru the parts stores (autozone), or you could try one from a junk yard. Be careful when you open it up, there is a spring & ball bearing, and a few small parts are a pain to get back in there.

we found out that the pontiac dealership wanted 152.00 for part so we called around and autozone for 72.90. pays to shop around : ) thanks for the info gmac.

no problem, just hope thats your problem (since you have to be tricky to return electrical parts), sounds like its your problem though.

yea defenitly is the multifuctional switch i headed for the junk yard they didnt have any like mine must be becuse its a gt didnt thinnk that would make much of a diffrence but it does huh... got home tore mine down screws and all cleanded it up and put it all back together since it didnt look fryed or any thing and put it back in wala it worked...... sorta lol been a big advetuer today going to head for another junk yard in the morning see if they have one thats more reliable till pay day there only like five bucks so its worth it thanks for all the aadvice and i hope some one else can learn from my experiance and not have to go throw to much pain to get there agine thanks gmack for aiming me in the right direction its appreciated/.......

lol problem solved fixed it good got lucky at the junk yard this morning 25 bucks for what looks like a brand new one wont have to fix it agine for a wile <fingers crossed> were good to go

glad to hear the turn signal switch (multi-function) fixed it, good deal junk yards are sometimes the way to go.
