Re: 2003 suburban abs/4wd warning lamps

It's annoying to say the least having the lights and bells coming on 3-4 times a trip, but more importantly it can't be good for the vehicle and during the summer I tow a 27' travel trailer which could make for a very dangerous situation if either the abs or 4wd actually have a major malfunction while out on the highway!!!!!! I would much rather have it rectified if only for the piece of mind.

Start with getting the codes checked.
On ABS codes when light comes on get the codes checked befor you turn of ignition.
On the 4 wheel drive light what one or what does it say?
Post back codes no.

Re: 2003 suburban abs/4wd warning lamps

Had codes checked ATC co306, ABS c0291 , BCM b2550, IPC u1041 were some of the ones produced. The 4wd light I am referring to is in the DIC display and it says "service 4wd". The first time it came on it was on aparticularly rainy day?? I am aware of the 4wd switch on the dash giving problems, I have resoldered the connections even though they looked O.K. to start with, made no difference. I replaced the EBCM thinking it might be that , no difference(by the way my brake pump was Not running contuously I just thought it might be part of the problem as I have read in other sites). Like I stated earlier I have not had any serious problems with either system ABS or 4wd, if I pull over and shut the engine off and restart it the messages disappear. One last point, we have had fairly warm weather over the last week and ahalf and I have only had the service 4wd message come on once , one morning going to work. THANKS FOR ANY HELP OUT THERE, I APPRECIATE THE REPLIES.

My old info system is a little short on the codes on it.
IPC U1041 points to a speed sensor
BCM 2550 points to dome lamp.

Service 4 wheel light may be from a stored code or some have a service 4 wheel light to tell you it is time to change the transfer case fluid and some of the transfer case use the special blue GM fluid.
Consult your owners manual on that end.

I would suspect with all of the codes you have a speed sensor acting up.
Needs data read out on the speed sensors with a full capable scanner.

You can find a lot of good repair info and code breakdown in the all data DIY online repair info subscription. 24.95 $US
About 10 minutes witha plastic card and they can set you up.
Link below.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the replies. One last thing I did as well was move the ground connection (ground down a fresh area on the frame , reattached and still had no effect) it seemed a little loose at the time.
