Is 2.4L engine a bad engine type

Just had second 2.4L 1998 engine go, this is the second one want to know if this is just a bad year or model engine, if so will dump car and move on. If engine Ok but my bad luck will try agin with another engine. Anyone with comments would like to hear.
First engine oil pump quit low miles, second engine started to knock real bad then boom.

Re: Is 2.4L engine a bad engine type

The 2.4 is not a bad engine but it does have its problems. Some will go for 200K others crap out like yours did. With your luck I think I would cut my losses and go with another size engine. But you could experience the same issues with that one as well. Best way to keep engines running for expended periods is good maintenance and synthetic oil helps a lot. Good Luck!!
