Clutch not making vtec work!?

Well I finally got to work on my car today because my vtec stopped working again. I replaced my old VSS off my old D-Series but was wondering if it could be my clutch. I replaced my Clutch for a 90 integra. Was that what I was suppose to use because I think it didn't come with vtec that year and maybe theres a reluctor ring in the clutch that the VSS reads off of but I could be wrong. Also I know that there is a mechnical VSS and a Electronic VSS but does it make a difference? Its a b16 in a CRX. The VSS I have you can push the tip and it will spring back out so I'm thinking thats the mechanical one. My vtec worked for about 3 months then quit. Someone help me out thanks! I KNOW MOPPIE CAN!!

well I don't think your clutch has anything to do with your VTEC. your VTEC engages at a set RPM, when your car reaches a set MPH and only when the oil pressure is right. So if you have a problem with your VTEC you should check one of these three. Or you might have a bad VTEC selenoid.sp. Good luck. stefan525

PS: check your oil, VTEC wires, VTEC selenoid, oil pressure sensor, speedo cable/sensor. thats all I could think of right of the top of my head.

Vtec engages off oil pressure, the right RPM and temperature and also the VSS (vehicle speed Sensor). I am getting code 17 which is VSS. The VSS is a pulse oscillator and reads with every pulse from the tranny while in movement. I just dunno if it gets its reading off a reluctor ring on the clutch or whatever because I did get it for a 90 Integra and thats a b17 non Vtec. If the vtec solenoid was bad it would throw code 21 meaning bad Vtec solenoid but it isn't that. Oh well I started my car after summer school today ran for 1 sec then died. It jumped timing and bent all the intake valves because honda motors are interference motors. Now I gotta take the head off replace the valves and timing belt also the water pump. Anything else I should do while its off?

The VSS reads off the Crown wheel on the Diff.
So the clutch that you use has absolutly no effect on it.
I would go and take mine out and have a look at the end of it for you, but its not eactly easy to get to.

Thanks thats all I wanted to know. I lucked out once again. The timing belt was in perfect condition just jumped teeth. I thought I bent some valves but I didn't. Must have jumped a certain way where it would crank over with no compression so I am guessing the intake valves were open when the piston came back up and throwing all compression back out the intake. So I took my head off today, took me 1 1/2 hours to do, Head gasket set is gonna cost me 200 damn dollars.... list is 305 so I guess I'm okay. I also found out why the timing jumped. MY DIZZY FROZE UP AGAIN! I think it froze because lack of oil going to it. I saw a hole in the cameshaft and it feeds the dizzy. Either I have a blockage in an oil passage to the dizzy like in the camshaft or I am running low on oil. I was 2 mm above the bottom dot on the dip stick when I checked so I dont know... Does this sound correct? Oh yeah do they make rebuild kits for dizzys? I didn't ruin anything this time I just froze a bearing up.
