Intake Manifold Gaskets Covered?

Have a 2002 Rodeo. IMG were replaced last March..I'm having the same problem again it appears..sometimes stalls right after start up, CEL on most of the time. Work was covered last March as I was within 3 years. Looking at warranty book today and I see the 2002 has a 10 year powertrain warranty and seals and gaskets are listed as covered parts...SO, intake manifold gaskets are covered under powertrain warranty?

Does it makes sense that the IMG would need replacing when just replaced a year ago? I've also read that the EGR might be the problem..can you tell me the differences between the teo? I have occasionally stalling right after start up, CEL mostly on solid, sometimes flashing..other times it's off.

Re: Intake Manifold Gaskets Covered?

what code are you getting from the CEL?

If it's flashing you should get it looked at quick. A bad IMG can give a misfire code, mine did.

Yup, need the codes.

And yup it could be the IMG again. i know of one Trooper owner that had his replace (under warranty), twice in one year.

It can go bad due to improper torque on the bolts.

Autozone will read the codes for free.

Re: Intake Manifold Gaskets Covered?

OK..had the codes read at auto zone and they were 171, 174(system too lean, banks 1, 2) and 300- Random/multile cyclinder misfire

Does this sound like IMG? Again 2002 Rodeo, 48k miles, had IMG replaced last year. Only symptom is occasional stalling right after start up. Besided that, seems to run fine and idle fine as well.
I don't want to take it to a dealer unless it's the IMG(covered under powertrain) Anything else and I wil take to local mechanic.

I'm assuming the 300 code could also cause the 171, 174?

Re: Intake Manifold Gaskets Covered?

those codes show up with a bad IMG. To me, it looks like that is your problem. I'd get it looked at soon. It may turn out to be something different, but all signs point to an IMG.
