Rear Door Again - How to open with broken door handle

I have seen this a couple of times here, but no one had clearly said how to get the rear cargo doors open if the rear handle is broken. Its the passenger side rear door thats gone, so both doors are closed and I can't get em open.
I have a 90 astro SLT with a broken rear door handle. The doors are the cargo doors, not the dutch style.
One thread said to use a flathead screwdriver, as they have been opening theirs using this for some time.
How do you do this using a flathead screwdriver? Where do you put the screwdriver, and what do you pry/push?
Does it go in the top, bottom, middle??
?
I have tried with the screwdriver through the hole where the actual handle is, but there is nothing attached to it, and the handle just flops back and forth.
It's finally a nice warm day out and I am having absolutely no luck getting it open.
I don't really want to drill hinges out, as someone suggested.
Thanks

Re: Rear Door Again - How to open with broken door handle

Best the start taking the panels off from the inside. The carpeted pieces can be removed and you will be able to reach inside and open the door.

Good Luck!
