I have been having many problems with my 2001 Alero and I am completely fed up with this car. I need some help figuring out what to do and where to go next. First time car wouldn't start was in December so I got it towed to a mechanic. They said that fuel line was frozen and fuel filter was clogged, black gas coming out. I believed them and had it repaired. One week to the day later car would not start again. Towed it back to the same mechanic and they said it put out some code (don't remember what) and that they had to have the computer relearn something. Car started fine but if there was another problem then they would have to look at other things. So clearly they didn't know what was going on. The VERY NEXT day my car wouldn't start again. Towed to the dealer this time and they said it was a faulty Security sensor not allowing the car to start. Replaced it and it ran fine for about a month. Security light came on a couple times so I took it back to the dealer but they couldn't find a problem. Next time the light came on I drove straight to the dealer and they said it must have been a faulty sensor so they replaced. They also said that the ignition switch was starting to go and recommended that I have that replaced at about $300. I instead started using my spare key that wasn't as worn. Three weeks ago I had to have the alternator replaced which I think is unrelated to my other problems but I don't realy know. And finally last night my car wouldn't start again. Towed it to Pep Boys (they're open on Sundays). I was told that the there were a couple of codes dealing with the security system and the fuel line. Also my fuel filter was clogged again and more black gas. They are replacing that and said that the car was running but if I had any more problems that they would have to refer me to a GM dealer. Sorry for the long story but I wanted whoever responds to have the full story. So how does a fuel filter get clogged in 3 months? Should I take it back to the dealer who replaced the security sensor? Should I try that Passlock bypass thing, if so where do I take it, the dealer said it couldn't be done? I just need some help in keeping the car running until I can get rid of it. Unfortunately I am not in the position to get a new car and I am leery of getting another used car. Please help me out. Thanks

Re: Many problems,need HELP!
Thanks for the response to the many problems with the alero. I had the car for over three years and haven't had any major problems until the last 3-4 months. However good news for me I was able to get rid of the car a couple of days ago. I was able to trade it in towards a new car and the peace of mind that comes with a warrenty
. But I do thank you for the response!
