How to improve rolling Launch

Hey all;
We all know our cars weigh a ton and that rolling races kinda suck. SO my question is, how do we get the cars to take off better while rolling? Say I'm in 3rd gear at 3K rpm... how can I get more speed out of it? I figure some nice mid-range cams would work wonders. Weight reduction is also an option... but how much? Would a larger TB help more? I'm hoping when I tune my car (hopefully this week), I'll get some better pickup then. We'll see with that though. So what else can we do? And remember, turbo is not an option. Thanks all!

umm....GS-T's and GSX's are sick on the highway. I dont know why you would think otherwise. If you want decent speed, there is no other option besides a turbo or spray. A tune won't help either, air/fuel isn't far from stock.

Re: How to improve rolling Launch

Yeah. The one thing I hate the most is downshifting to second. It feels so wrong when doing it, like the gear ratio is just so different or something. I just don't like doing that.

No spraying. I will never do that to a car.

There's got to be something that can be done to help in the lower rpm range. A larger TB won't work? Aren't full cold air intakes supposed to give some better power in the lower power band?

Re: How to improve rolling Launch

I know it adds HP, but I meant for the rolling starts. I heard the larger TB gives better throttle response. Is that something I need for this?

You know what... I'm jsut going to get that done already. Next pay check, I'm getting the TB ported to 55mm. No ifs, ands, or buts. Then we'll see. lol

Not really. They have slightly more top end, maybe a few hp at most.

I'm interested to see how much of a difference you will see with a 55 mm TB, with all of your mods.

Re: How to improve rolling Launch

Honestly... the more people keep making dumbass comments about fucking turbos, the less I want to post here, or anywhere else. Everywhere I go people give me shit, even 2gnt.com. I'm sick and tired of it.

Travis, do you have an extra TB you want to get rid of? I also need an EGR valve. The solenoid still gave me a CEL.

Re: How to improve rolling Launch

not trying to get you mad, but everyone that tells you the only way to get power is to turbo is right. They're not making "dumbass" comments. If you want a fast car, put all the money you're spending on mods into an account and buy a turbo or a turbo'd dsm. Everyone is actually trying to help you out...trying to save you time and money. But if you want to go and spend thousands (although your mod list is hardly performance) and still be slower than a stock turbo'd dsm, go for it. Just don't get mad when we tell you the truth...

In regards to getting bettle throttle response by upgrading throttle bodies, I don't see how it would help roll racing. When you roll race you go WOT, you don't ease into it, better throttle response is only good for city driving where it takes less effort to get up to speed.
