2.2 to 2.4

Is it true that they have the same block? Also if i put z24 injectors and head on a 2.2 and bore it out to 2.4 is it pretty much a z24

Re: 2.2 to 2.4

a modular engine is an engine w/ the same block that can be made into different engines using different parts. ford came out with it in the early 90's . the 4.8 and 5.4 both used the same block, just dif internals. chevy's i-4 is NOT however a modular engine. u couldnt just replace the head from ohv to a dohc and make it a z24. u would have to buy a whole new engine if u wanted to go from pushrod to ohc. just wanted to clear some things up.

Re: 2.2 to 2.4

3 different engine families used in 1982-2005 Cavaliers.1 is the old 1.8/2.0/2.2 "junkyard" OHV design. This engine being an awful lot like the 2.5 GM "Iron Duke"/TECH4 engine(nothing interchanges though, its from another engine family),only with an aluminum cylinder head.2 is the Quad-4.GMs first DOHC/16 Valve 4cylinder made in-house (the Cosworth Vega was outsourced).3 is the Current EcoTec 4.Also used in Cobalt and Saturn ION cars.Nothing will swap from any of these engines.
