Low-beam failure in my 1986 Caprice...
Last night on my way back from another town, I lost my low beams. I switched to the high beams and back to low and they worked, but this only worked a couple time before they wouldnt work at all. It doesnt appear to be a fuse problem, and the wires look fine running all the way to the headlights, and the high beams work fine.
so can anybody help me? |

Headlight relay? Switch? Those would be my guess.

Re: Low-beam failure in my 1986 Caprice...
It's your dimmer switch. I've had this fail on my car twice - with the same result you're getting.
Hint: Don't go to Autozone to get one - this is the reason I'm on two and not one - they sell Wells electric stuff and it's just not there, quality-wise. My first Autozone switch burned up after only 3 months.

I would agree with the dimmer switch diagnosis. I had to replace that as well. It will cause you to loos your headlights when switching back and forth between high and low. But, its an easy fix.
