major repair help - sunvisor clip

Well, the kid broke it and I gotta find one. I don't have my local Isuzu dealer, I don't want to call St. Charles for it, I don't have the time to run to a junkyard, and the local chain stores have a huge selection of window handles, but no sunvisor clips. Any suggestions for such a small item??

lol, major repair. Funny, I need a sunvisor clip too. I grabbed one from a previous gen Rodeo and learned that it's too small. You're gonna have to go '98+ for one of those, and I haven't had any luck finding a '98+ Rodeo in a junkyard. Call St. Charles on Monday, and I will too.

Well if you don't want to call st charles, then you probably don't want to bid for it on ebay, but here it is anyways (in case you manage to muster the motivation):

Re: major repair help - sunvisor clip

Make the kid go find one, hehehehe!

What's your daughter driving it for? Isn't that your rig?

Heck, my 1st car wasn't as pretty as a Rodeo, rather it looked like it was IN a Rodeo, or rather a stampede.

Re: major repair help - sunvisor clip

Yeah, I'm pretty lazy! I want to go to an online supplier, give them my card #, and be done with it. The last time I tried a small ticket item at St. Charles (hood bump stop) it didn't get ordered (they did get one to me later as part of a larger shipment). Maybe I'll wait until I do the rear brakes and get it all from St. Charles. It should be readily available in my neighborhood - GM part, no?

The 16 year old daughter didn't actually break it. It's the passenger side, and my 10 year old son did it. She is lucky to have the Rodeo. I drove a Dodge Omni for my first ride - at 18 years old.

Thanks for the eBay link. I will check it out. I feel stronger now!

Oh yeah. Maybe I'll check there. Do you have a DIY for this repair?

Aren't they just attcahed with screws? The picture from the eBay listing looked like there's an alignment tab and a hole for the attachment screw.

Re: major repair help - sunvisor clip

If you still have the pieces, model glue welds little parts like this back together amazingly well.

Nah, it has a little expanding tab on the visor clip. You just push and it snaps in. The tab squeezes its way in the hole, then once it's past the hole, it expands and kind of locks into place.

Re: major repair help - sunvisor clip

I don't have the missing piece. I like the glue option the best. I'm calling the Honda parts guys today.

You guys sure are helpful. There is a single screw in the clip. It looks like it needs one of those things that turns screws, but it has a cross in the head, not a straight line. Which way do I turn it to get it out?

You remove the screw and then you just give the clip a 1/4 turn. Then you can wiggle the sunvisor clip out of there. I give it a %50 chance though, that you'll damage the way it snaps in and you'll have to replace the clip with a new one. So be careful, take your time, go slow, be patient, and pay attention if you don't want to order another one.

Re: major repair help - sunvisor clip

Honda parts is closed today. I'll have to get it this week. That's OK. I'll have a chance to soak it down in some PB Blaster to facilitate removal!!

Thanks again!
