Tb 2003-04-05 Lt

Hello everyone, i find this forum precious as per all the information contained in it. I have not find any precise informations about diffences between those models and i wanted you guys to help me out with it

I was looking for a TB 2005 LT with Low mileage but i did not find a lot of them, and i saw couple of 04 but a lots of 03 with low mileage too. I wondered what were the differences between 03-04-05 any major things that they changed that would change my perception and buy a 2005 instead of a 2003 (almost 7000$ in diff for the price).

Thanks

AFAIK, there is very few hardware changes between 2002-2005. Later years ~2004+ supposedly have an improved clutch fan. 2004 added the AIR system for the 4.2L for cleaner exhaust and catalytic converter longevity. 2006 has a MAF sensor as opposed to the MAP and computer controlled air/fuel trim management on the 2002-2005 4.2's. 2006 has a different rear bumper cover and some other performance boosts on the engine. You will definately get the most bang for your buck by buying a 3yr old vehicle. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a CLEAN, low mileage 2003. I personally dont care for all the added electronic doo-dads on the LT. More to go wrong IMO.

Hate to say this but overall reliability of all years has been lousy, my 2002 has had many issues.

Really???

I thought those models were very reliable. I have not read about any major issues often around all the forums and reviews.

what kind of issues did you have?

Unless you wanna cough up the bucks for a 4runner or the likes, they all have their issues, especially first model year for a domestic SUV (2002 TB). I wouldn't say the TB is less reliable than a comparable exploder or durango. Like any 4x4 truck, they have lots of parts & require LOTS of maintenance. I always recommend against a 4x4/SUV/truck for anyone who just likes to put gas in it & pop into Iffy-Loob every so often. Your expectations will NOT be met with that situation.

Multiple recalls, rear brake problems, ball joint, multiple sway bar link failures, numerous software updates, blower resistor, fan clutch problems, pinion seal. Others have had far worse issues, look at consumer reports, I know they dislike domestics, but the the black marks are right, stay with the newest one you can afford.
