Mustang GT vs. RX-8

I was on my way home from work yesterday when a blue RX-8 started tailing me. I was only doing 55 and I thought the guy was just tailing me before he passed me as some times they do. He started to pass than slowed down to match me. At that point I thought he wanted to race. All of the sudden he took off and I dropped it into 3rd. He had a bit of a jump on me but it wasn't more than a second before I put a few cars on him and slowed down. After that he just stayed back. I guess this is a good way to start off the year haha.

Re: Mustang GT vs. RX-8

Good kill. It's no secret that RX8's have very little, if at all no real power for what they should have. I've seen some magazines post a 15 sec. flat 1/4 mile time in one. That is really sad.

Re: Mustang GT vs. RX-8

Still speed isnt everything. Its how the car makes you feel. I think the RX-8 is a great car in its habitat. unfortunetly this is the "street racing" forum and that aint its strong suit.
Its much more grown up than that.

I'm not trying to say I don't believe you, but for that car to run that 1/4 it had to be a factory freak with slicks and a pro driver. Was that in person or a magazine or online, or what? Because that is impressive.

It really sucks that they even over-rated them from teh factory. My friend's dad got one, and they actually offered to buy it back or something, when it was found to have over 20hp LESS than what they had originally advertised. I don't know the specifics, but I do know he didn't keep that car long.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

Yeah, i'm with you on the 14.2 sec. 1/4 mile. I'd have to see that. There are countless magazine times of them running in the high 14's. The 14.2 sec. pass would have to be one of the most freak cars, kinda like the Camaro SS that ran a 12.8 sec. pass stock.

I never see them running at the track, and as far as i've seen resale value wise, they leave alot to be desired.

If I want to turn fast i'll buy an Evo/STi for around the same price, and smoke an RX8 all around.

THEY SHOULD'VE TURBOCHARGED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!
