I am so so stoked. I had a brand new mustang (which sounded like it had a V8) right in front of me tonight. Well we were going about 25 and I noticed that he was getting ready to punch it. I kept it in 2nd and as he punched it I also punched it and yes, he didn't come close to leaving me behind. I think he was amazed that a Mits Eclipse kept up with him. He tried it again and I did it to him again. Is was so funny. I know now that the money that I have been spending on my mods is paying off. I got a woody from that. Anyone that has experienced something like this, please let me know. Have fun and be safe.

Yeah, The new Stang GT's are weaker than our cars are. Stock they will run a 15 with a good driver. SO, if you ran a stock GT heads up on the 1/4, you would probably beat him if you put even just an intake on. Not to downsize your experience, but It is nice to know that our V6 can keep up with some American (pussy) muscle.

My friend has a nice ass SVT Cobra, and I take him in 1st gear, and the start of 2nd. Anything after that he melts my doors off the hinges.

To be honest I don't know if it was a v6 or v8. All I know it was brand new and it sounded like a v8. It was loud enough. I was just excited because there are a lot of high school kids here that have these cars with the big fat mufflers that sound like high powered weed eaters coming down the road and when they pull up next to me I just smile at them. When they take off I just take off normal and beat them.....now that is so funny. It was just nice finally being able to try to keep up with a stang. I am sure I will run into him again since I live in a small town so I will let everyone know how that goes...lol

the new V8s would have a "GT" emblem on the back that you couldn't miss.

It was a GT cause I saw him again in town. And I kept up with him starting at about 25 mph and in 2nd gear. He got on it and I got on it right behind him and he didn't leave me at all. It was fun also...lol

Sorry to break it to you man, but in simple terms, either you are an idiot or you make up a lot of bullshit. Ok, first of all a "new" (05 and up) mustang GT is pushing 300hp at the crank STOCK. They will rape a 3G eclipse GT in nearly every catagory, except maybe gas mileage. They are not "weak" as you say. An 05 and up mustang GT will make my RSX type S look like its a little civic. Everyone knows that a stock Type S can take a 3G eclipse any day of the week, so what is your reasoning for an eclipse GT beating one of these Mustangs? Now, It is hard for me to say this because I absolutely HATE mustangs, but it is people like you who spawn ricers. You get it in their heads that an eclipse with Intake (good for maybe 4whp on a non-vtec (excuse me...Mivec) engine and underdrive pulleys (good for 1hp gain and dimming of your head lights haha) can take a stock 300 hp RWD car? This is a complete lie. As for your buddy in the SVT cobra? the only way i can see you taking him in 1st is if he can't launch any better than my grandma and spins all the way through first and second. That is the ONLY way a 3G pile of shit will beat an SVT (trust me, i owned one). This is completely against what i normally say about mustangs because I absolutely hate them, but come one, quit feeding bullshit into peoples heads. 3G's are slow, 300hp mustangs are not. How can you say they will run a 15 in the 1/4 with a good driver? WTF?! my RSX hits a 14.9 stock. You seriously need to do your reasearch before making ridiculous posts. I am a huge import fan, but man I can't let this shit fly. The eclipse fan boys will look like idiots when they go to the track and try to line up w/a new GT b/c you said they could beat those "weak" things. sorry man, had to let it out.

actually... the 05' mustang gt's can run a 13.9 sec. 1/4 mile, and the 01' eclipse gt can do a 15.2 1/4 mile. sooo, get your head right.

Yeah, sorry I should have made that a point...i WAS reffering to the New 4G's v. the new Mustangs...my bad.

And as for my buddies Cobra, I made him take his trac. control off because I dont have it on my car...and with it off the car wont keep the power down, so I can take him in 1st and start of 2nd. But like I said, anything after that blows my doors off. From a stop I have been able to jump every Stang I have come up against simply because they are on cold street tires...they cant get a good launch, Plus they are the fattest mother fuckers I have ever seen.

Dang guys, I didn't mean to get everyone fired up about mustangs. I was just making the point that I did keep up with one from about 25 mph. I am sure if we kept going he probably would have blown my doors off. I was just amazed I did what I did as I am not a guy who takes his car to the track and I usually don't do much racing around town. But when I get the chance to have fun I jump all over it. I know the new mustangs are probably faster then my car and I accept that, but shit, I was just stoked to be able to do what I did. THATS ALL Yes I know I have only added a few horses to my car, but to be honest, its the fastest car I have ever owned. So yes, I do like what I have as I am almost 37 y/o and I have grown out of most of what I was into in my youth. Maybe someday I can get me a $200,000 car that can't be touched and I won't have to worry about anyone beating me. Until then I shall enjoy my 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT Spyder and have fun driving it.
