Loose Steering
I have a 96 and 97 JGC but the steering wheel when turning in the 97 feels so much looser and that I have less control especially at interstate speeds. If I replace the steering stablizer/shock will this make the steering stiffer with more control or is there something else that needs replacing.

Re: Loose Steering
Replacing the steering damper should help. But also check the front end for play in the tie rods, ball joints etc.

Re: Loose Steering
Joe is right check out the front steering components.
I have replaced every front end component on my 94 and still have a bit of loose steering. I have replaced the gear box with 2 used gears and still no success then bought a reman gear from autozone and it didn't help either, so I went to summit and spent close to $400 on a gear box and still did no get rid of the play, so I decided to live with it, then I seen on on ebay and the guy said it was still really tight with no play, so I decided to buy it and it was alot better then the other 5 gear boxes that I had, I am going to adjust it a lil more to get rid of the lil bit of play in it. |
