Stop Lights

I have never gotten a ticket for this, but i've been told by a few people that in Virginia, and probably other states as well, if you get a ticket for running a stop sign, and the stop sign does not have a V-DOT sticker on the back, the ticket is invalid. is this true? i have NEVER seen a stop sign w/ ANY stickers on the back. the guy who told me is a fire fighter, who works with a lot of cops. just thought i'd see if anyone had ever heard of such a law

Re: Stop Lights

Never heard of such a loop hole. I could understand if the sign was installed an improper distance from the curb, obstructed by a tree that needs pruning, or is a size/height that does not follow regulations... then they may toss it out.

Maybe give the police department a call and ask? They probably hear stories like this one all the time.

Yeah, and if there is a white line around it, it means its optional.
