04 Bonneville 3.8 motor noise, or not?

Bought 04 bonneville se with 29000 miles on it. Do these motors just make a rattle sound when running? Had a o1 monte that rattled worst, but had 82000 miles on it. Still under factory warr. Should I be worryed? These new motors are so differant sounding. Any response with this matter will help!!!

If it is covered by the GM warranty take it to the dealer to get it checked out. Don't wait for something to happen or the warranty to run out. A new car shouldn't rattle in the engine so get it checked.

I have 2 late model 3.8's no engine noise whatsoever.

Took back to dealer, which now says it has piston slap. They replaced pistons and lifters and rod bearings. Motor still has some rattle sound. Dealer said there is nothing to worry about, and they said gm would give me a corporate letter that will cover motor for 100,000 miles, parts and labor... Would this be better than getting short block installed?

Without knowing exactly what the noise is now hard to say, again a 98, and 2003 3800 and many others I have worked are absolutely quiet hot or cold, one of the few GM engine that are. I would demand explanation as to what is the present noise when it is not common on other 3800's.
