98 suburban shutter

Hello,
I am having a strang shutter when driving at about 1200rpm,55mph and in overdrive. It goes on for a little over a second then goes away, then comes back on. It shakes the whole truck. Im pretty sure its the transmission because if it was in the driveline it would be a constant thing. Any ideas?
Thanks

Re: 98 suburban shutter

shift to 3rd, drive the same speed and if the shutter is still there. Does it do it on the acceleration or the decell? You could have a tire that threw a weight or had a belt slip, I have seen tires do some weird vibration stuff.

Re: 98 suburban shutter

Any engine or trans codes stored?
Is it just when lockup comes on or goes off?
Hold a steady speed around 50-60 MPH and touch the brake pedal just enough to turn on brakes lights. Then let back up on it and see if you feel the shudder when lockup go off and then on.
On a lockup shudder change and service trans fluid and filter first.
Also there may be some pcm reflashes from dealer to help on it.
If it is a bad case a bottle of Lube-gard additive may help.
