Angry Coolant Light On

I have a 96 Cavalier and there is coolant leaking everywhere. We replaced the water pump & gasket and there isn't a leak anymore. The coolant light is on and won't come off. We read the manual & it says to let it completely cool off and the light should come off. 6 hrs later and the light is still on. Has anyone had this happen to them? What should we do? Thanks a lot!

Re: Coolant Light On

i'm not losing coolant now...there was a huge puddle under my car sat. morning....now we replaced water pump & gasket, let the air out and the light won't come off...is there something in the computer that needs to be reset? or should i let it idle & hope that it clears out on it's own?

Re: Coolant Light On

you could try disconnecting your battery overnight, that might reset it

Re: Coolant Light On

If you try the battery disconnect trick and it does not help then sensor in coolant reservoir may be sticking or may have gone bad. if it was not on before this happened I would think sticking . give the reservoir bottle a rap by the sensor see if that works
