What is the most popular model

G'day,

What would you guys (and girls) consider to be the most popular 1/24 model kit and why or types of model - like Ferrari, Lamborghini or more the Jap Spec stuff like Skylines etc?

Why do most of you buy models...what do you look for...potential to up spec the kit with extra details etc, or just cos the car looks nice!

Re: What is the most popular model

Who knows what the most popular kit is? Around here, probably the Revell Civic. Or Tamiya Skyline. On other boards, maybe a 69 Camaro. That's an almost impossible question to answer, without checking sales numbers.

Personally, I buy a kit because I think "I could do something cool with that car!" so it doesn't matter what it is.

Re: What is the most popular model

If I had to guess, My best guess would be the AMT original tool 57 Chevy. its been a Constant in AMT's line since the 60's. its a great old kit. but missing some of the details that can be put into models today. AMT brought out a new tool 57 back in the 90's. but the original tool kit just seems to sell better. I have no idea why?

second I would think would be the AMT 66 Mustang, once again, thats been in AMT's line for 40+ years and keeps getting reissued

Maybe in the US, but not on this site.

What's the point of most popular? This is a hobby that lets each of us embrace our own automotive interests- as it should be. Happily, this is an environment that lets us share these interests amongst other enthusiasts. If we all built the same thing, what would the fun be?

So why the question?
