Rockers and Lifters

I plan on doing a total motor rebuild w/turbo (running around 15psi) how important are rocks and lifters? Will they help much with my performance or do I need them so my stock ones dont break? Are these good?

Re: Rockers and Lifters

Anytime you are hot rodding these engines, you should replace the original lifters/ rockers with PT style parts. Even if you don't mod the engine, it will be more reliable if you change these parts.

Re: Rockers and Lifters

The PT Cruiser comes with the upgraded parts from the factory, you can go to a Chrysler dealer and order them from the parts counter. I've heard that the full set of lifters and rockers is only about $165, but I have never checked it out for myself. If you are going to do some serious stuff, like Turbo, your best bet is to replace your present head with a PT Cruiser Turbo head. The Cruiser/SRT4 head has it's ports in a slightly different position and has better flow. This will also allow you to use the Turbo Intake and Exhaust manifold in your turbo setup. You can get by much cheaper if you build the 2.0 bottom end for Turbo power and then go to a junk yard and hijack the Turbo,Head, Injectors, manifolds etc... from a Turbo PT or SRT4. You may decide to transplant the whole 2.4 setup into your Neon. That would be a little more work but probably worth it.

I believe so, it isn't needed but it will bolt up. Remember Len Ayala's turbo neon was pushing over 350HP on the neon engine, with forged pistons and rods.

I don't think you "need" it, but it wouldn't hurt.
