Exclamation Sebring Chrome Wheel problems

I have a 2001 Sebring Sedan LXi with 16x 6.5 Aluminum Wheels - Chrome - There is only 37000 miles on the car and for over a year I am having problems with rim leaks but only on whatever rims are on the front. I have had the tires balanced and rotated and within a week the front tire passenger side was totally flat - fine one evening and the next morning - no air - had to call AAA to change the tire. I have had the rims cleaned and a new seal put on and still the front tires leak. I have had this done at Goodyear and Sears. This time the tire was done 4 weeks ago and I have had to add as much as 6 pounds to it. I check the tires daily - visually and if it looks a bit low, tire guage - Yesterday morning the tire was fine but at 10 PM I was driving 50/mph on a state highway and the tire lost air quickly. It started to pull to the right and then just went soooo flat.
I find it interesting that just the rims on the front are affected. Can the weight of the car/engine just be too much for these rims?
Does anyone else have this problem? What was done about it? These are very expensive rims. Sometimes the tires will go low while driving and when I check them there is only 10 pounds of pressure - Tires have plenty of tread.
I would think this would be a serious safety issue - the dealer has agreed to look at all 4 wheels and no charge - just to look.

Help!

Re: Sebring Chrome Wheel problems

I have the same problem. I carry around a tire pressure gauge. I am forever putting air in my tires and it does seem like it is the front driver side, occasionally it is the rear passanger but for the most part it is the front. Ihave brand new tires on the car and it still happens. Someone mentioned it was the rims but I haven't gotten a solid answer yet. If any one out there has any suggestions it would be appreciated. thanks

Red face Re: Sebring Chrome Wheel problems

I had this problem with the old tires and the older they got they worse it was. Same thing, chrome rims - I know that with a sudden temp change that they may lose a few pounds but not 7 or suddenly go flat. I took it to the dealer and they removed all the tires from the rims, cleaned the rims and remounted the tires with the best tire sealer. Since I lost all air at 50 mph and ruined a tire, I think they tried harder and never charged me for redoing all four.
It about glued the tires on and no probelms. I replaced the tires with new, same as the oem tires. I have only had one problem and that was with the front passenger side. It started losing about 2 pounds a day. I took it to the dealer and they used that wonderful sealer again and no problems since. Just the usual pound or two once in a while. When I rotate the tires then we will see if it holds. I only have the problem on the front, never on the back.
Try going to the dealer and maybe they will work with you on it.
I did not have much luck with a "g" tire store or a "s" auto store - only the dealer has been successful with this issue.
Hope this helps!
