Water on driver floor board

Hello everyone. I did a search on this with no luck. We had a great deal of rain down here in the Dallas area over the weekend. My '92 Jimmy 2WD w/ 4.3L was driven in the rain and through some heavy water. The Jimmy ran great through everything I put it through. The problem I have is water on the driver side floor board. When I lifted up the rubber mat I found the carpet completely soaked. I was able to get the majority of the water out of the carpet with my shop vac. It was really an impressive amount of water. I cannot figure out how it is getting in. Does anybody have any ideas? Thank you all in advance for any help and direction you can give me.

Re: Water on driver floor board

I had the same problem on my old 92 blazer I took it to the dealer they did some kind of water pressure test and it turned out that some of the grommets and seals on the fire wall worn away they told me my only two options where to ether take the entire dash board out and change all the seals or to just put silicone on what ever hole the could find well I told them to use the silicone and the leak was not as bad but in heavy rain it would still get damp your best bet is to take the cowl off make sure there are no leaves or anything under there and just put some silicone on all the holes in the fire wall cause all that sh*t I did at the dealer cost just about what the car was worth

Thanks for the reply. I'll pull the silicone gun out and start plugging holes.
