Update on oil leak problem....

Ok....Here is the new scoop....I JUST replaced the oil sending unit and now my oil pressure is runnning great but the car is still leaking oil....So have a feeling it is the rear main seal.........

you should put this in your original post so others wont be left empty handed when searching the same problem.

Now, since you were there, where was the bulk of the oil comming from?

In your original post you said you have a "puddle" of oil. So, what constutues as a pudlle of oil to you? Puddle to me means a measurable amount that requires adding oil every week.

If it is just a stain,mostly dry by say overnight, then as I stated in your original post, yes, the front and rear seals on all small block chevy motors are notorious for leaking.

Perhaps maybe your leak is pooling in the flywheel cover and oozing it's way out giving the preception of a 'puddle'? Do you see the oil coming from the plastic shield from inbetween the motor and trans?
