how to remove a cat converter?
Could somebody please explain to me how to remove a cat converter, and what exactly do i need to do to keep it off, just put a pipe in its place or what?
Also, how much of a difference in sound and performance is there without it? Is it worth it? |

Re: how to remove a cat converter?
if you remove it you just replace it with a piece of pipe... you wont see any perfomance gains really but it should sound a little more mean

Re: how to remove a cat converter?
Ive been looking around google and stuff trying to read up on it first, and ive been seeing that there are o2 seonsors, either before or after the cat to see how rich its running and if you take it off its going to mess with them and cause all sorts of bad things to happen, whats up with that?

Re: how to remove a cat converter?
Cut it out and weld in a straight pipe, as long as you don't have to pass emissions. Otherwise just get a high flow cat and get it put in.

Re: how to remove a cat converter?
spray it with water and shake a can of pennies...
people always did that to me when I asked about the cats so I thought that I would just pass it on.... You just chop it off and put a piece of pipe in its place. You may want to remove the smog pump while you do this too as the steel tube that runs to the cats will be an exhaust leak. There arent any o2 sensors in or around the cats.
