How long do lt1's hold up?

I was looking into selling my truck and getting a lt1 firebird, I was wondering how good that they hold up after 100k miles because that is about all that I can find in my price range
Thanks,

Andy

If well taken care of....probably be fine.

Hard to say about any car over 100K. Some make it and some don't.

Re: How long do lt1's hold up?

I've seen them with around 180K still running well...though not too many that high mileage. If you can find one that has service records that are consistant or someone that at least saved the oil change receipts, Id say go with that one. Otherwise, your flipping a coin...

Re: How long do lt1's hold up?

two big things to worry about on them if it was not fixed all ready is the optic spark and fuel pump, there is a guy in the camaro forum that has a 94 lt1 camaro with about 180-190,000 on it and it still runs good. Just make shure it was taken care of.

Re: How long do lt1's hold up?

Mine was fine to 152K, then it blew a head gasket. That was because of cooling problems, a new radiator fixed that. I'd be more worried about stuff like the transmission & clutch (if manual). The optispark distributor is not very reliable, so if possible you want to find a car that has had that replaced already, because it WILL fail at some point. Good luck.
