intakes

i know this is a newbie question but i was reading about intakes and just started thinking....

ok i read somewhere that intakes help get better gas mileage because there is more air going in the engine, so all the fuel gets burned up,but

if there is more air going in, the sensor reads this, so it sends more fuel to the engine, so if you think about it, you are using more fuel because there is more air coming in. i think its a counter-productive kind of a thing going on but i'm not an expert...

so do u end up getting better gas mileage from burning more fuel in the cylinders or does the intake just give more power to the engine because more air & fuel (than with stock intake) is coming in?

Intakes and exhausts(aftermarket) Improve gas milage because it makes everything more efficent like combustion

Well the stock intake is restrictive so when you get a new one air is more easily pulled in. That helps performance and gas mileage because the engine doesn't have to work as hard to get a breath. Now if you put that on and it makes your car faster so you floor it all the time (like me) then it counters any benefit recieved by having the intake.
