98 Mystique Syncros

Hello I just purchased a 1998 Mercury Mystique 2.5L V6 5 speed and there is a slight grind shifting into 2nd and 3rd gear which i believe is the syncros and i was wondering if anyone had an idea of how much this would cost me to fix thanks

Re: 98 Mystique Syncros

If you can remove the transmission yourself, then youll pay about $600 or so. A lot of people (including myself) take their transmissions to Terry Haines in Rockford, MI who is a retired Ford engineer who actually designed the MTX-75 trans in the Contour/Mystique. He now owns a trans shop fully dedicated to the MTX-75. Does top notch work and hes the only guy I would trust with a MTX-75 to get it done right every time.
