General Info On The Paseo

Hi, I am looking into purchasiing a 1991 Paseo, but before I do, I am trying to find some information on them first. Are they good reliable cars? What can I expect out of one? Do they have some 'go' to them? Any information on them would be great, or even providing links so I can do some reading on them would be awesome too. Thanks for your time.

Re: General Info On The Paseo

I have a 92 Toyota Paseo (automatic; 165,000 miles)... this is purly from my experience with it...
I find that they ARE reliable cars if properly maintained. I have had mine for five years, bought it used. I have driven it almost 50,000 miles in that time, changed the oil myself, and most of the upkeep was done myself. Little to no maintainence was done by the previous owner. I have never had to take it into a garage for repairs or to fix something because the car broke down. I am no mechanic, but this car is suprisingly easy to work on.
I have hit a deer with it, doing surprisingly little damage. It bent my hood and dented a fender (and of course I had to fix the headlights) but the frame didn't twist or warp or bend at all. I had to replace the radiator because of that, it cost me 80 bucks. The car IS NOT being made anymore so finding large parts for it (body parts and such) could be expensive or hard but it hasn't been a problem for me yet.
Overall the only complaint that I can really come up with is that they are small cars... you probably won't fit more that three people in there without major discomfort (and even three is a stretch sometimes) and occasionally the four cylinder engine is a little underpowered on steeep hills. (I live in Montana part year and Alaska part year to give an idea of what I'm talking about)
Bottom line, I find them to be a good reliable car, if maintained (like any other car) You won't be running any street races with it unless you modify it a lot but for a get to work or school car, it's a handy vehicle to have. If you have more questions or somthing specific, just ask and I'll see if I can answer it for you.
