I've just bought a 1999 Mazda 323F LX and have found that the suspension is really stiff in it. Going over speed bumps (at appropriate speed) they even squeek. Is this the norm for the car or do I need to have it checked out?
Thanks in advance, Woppi |

Re: 1999 Mazda 323F LX Suspension
1st of all is it automatic or manual?! if its automatic, does it do it on the reverse or between the 1st & 2nd shifting?!...

Re: 1999 Mazda 323F LX Suspension
The transmission is manual. The squeeking does not occur during gear change, just going over speed bumps. That's what makes me think it's a suspension issue. The suspension is oil filled and is far from shot. I could get air filled suspension for a softer ride.

Re: 1999 Mazda 323F LX Suspension
To answer your first question, my 99 Mazda has never squeeked and it has 180,000 miles. Check the exhaust system to make sure none of the hangers are broken, it could be the exhaust system shifting that makes the noise. The suspension is fairly stiff, I make it a point to use high quality tires with proper inflation. It actually helps a lot.
