91 GSX help

Alright so I finally have my 2.3 stroker together and back in the car. Everything is hooked up correctly and all is good. Now here is where I run into a problem. When I try to start the car the starter just turns like it's not grabbing the flywheel. So I swapped the starter out with a new one and same thing.
I called the guy from the shop here and he said just try to get the flywheel to spin alittle bit because it might need to slip down into the groove.

So my car at this point is jacked up in the front and the driveshaft is disconnected right before the rear differential. I put the car in gear and turn the wheels, only the wheels are turning much to easy and the engine is turning as well.

Now the car is definately in gear and I tried it in all gears including reverse and got the same results. The car even when it is in gear is simply not in gear. So I think maybe I hooked something up wrong? Any idea's as to what could be causing this and if it's related to the starter issue?

Re: 91 GSX help

Okay no worries about the spinning thing. Some one was nice enough to clue me in on what an open differential was.

But we shall see about the starter position.

Any teeth on your flywheel broken or worn down to the point of needing replaced?... Or are you running a new flywheel on it?

Flywheel is the stock one that came off, but it was completely resurfaced and when I inspected it it was just fine and had all the teeth.

On another note, weither this is related to this problem or not. Most of my electronics are not working on the car. The guage glows and I get warning lights, but my headlights don't work nor do any of my interior lights or my windows up or down.

Re: 91 GSX help

so the starter spins but doesnt grab and you replaced it so thats pretty much ruled out, only thing I can think of is something is not fully seated. Make sure the tranny is flush with the block and that the flywheel is fully seated and the starter to
