disc brake
1999 Suburban 2wd 5.7l V8
Need to replace the front disc brakes after purchasing this rig. Have done this job on many different types of cars, but never on one of these. Any recomendations on the best type of brake pads? Any special tools or tricks would be helpful. Plan to get the manual but payday is a couple of weeks away. Thanks in advance for the help. |

Re: disc brake
You need a special allen head socket for the caliper guide pins. Don't get the cheap autozone or oreillys pads. Get somethin like ACDelco or Wagner from oreillys is alright. The cheaper it is, the better chance it will squeak.

Re: disc brake
Anybody know the size of the special allen head socket to remove the caliper? I will have to buy one but would like to have it on hand prior to starting the job.

Re: disc brake
I wish i would have read this earlier i was just using. I can't remember the size. If you go to Autozone and look at the socket allen heads you'll find a 3/8 size allen head that says "Brake Caliper Socket". The brand i got is "Great Neck". I remember the sockets holder said brake caliper socket.
