Exclamation Monte Carlo SS 01 PLEASE HELP!!

Hello, I need some help if anyone can offer it... or suggestions, please! I have a 2001 Monte Carlo SS, with about 85,000 miles on it. All highway miles, if that matters. Recently, I've been haveing problems. The Driver Information Center (where it tells you what outside temp is, avg. miles per gallon, etc...) has been acting up, along with my A/C and cruise control.
Every once in a while, I can start the car up and everything works just fine... especially in the morning. But other times, I start the car up and the Driver Info Center, A/C and Cruise control do not come on at all. Also, when this happens, usually the A/C and CC kick on about 10 minutes after the car is started but the DIC does not com on at all... does anyone have any ideas of what might be wrong? I checked the fuses, they are all fine. I heard it may be a computer problem... do you have any idea of how much this will cost? Is this a serious problem??... anyone with suggestions, please offer them, I don't want to try to start my car one day, and have it not work! I'm worried ... thanks a bunch!

Michelle

Sounds like the computer. it may just need to be reset, if reseting the computer does not work, then it may need to be replaced which could cost you up and over $300. I am not sure how to reset the cpu, infact I am trying to find that out now with my truck.

It might also be your ignition. It sounds wierd, but w-bodies experience strange electrical symptoms when the ignition goes bad.

Re: Monte Carlo SS 01 PLEASE HELP!!

Does that mean I may have to replace the ignition? It sounds expensive... I hope not. I started my car up this morning and everything seemes fine, but as soon as I go to lunch today, I know that all those things won't come on again... it's really weird, it's so aggravating!

Thanks for the suggestion!

I agree that your problem is most likely the ignition switch/harness assembly. It will cause other issues too, like heater blower inoperative, radio display issues, instrument cluster anomalies, etc...

Re: Monte Carlo SS 01 PLEASE HELP!!

Greetings
I just had the same problem with my 03 SS. I had the computer reset. THat cost 80 dollars. It worked fine for 2 days. Started the same thing again. It ended up being the ignition. That was 289 dollars. All is well with the SS now
