Exclamation Looking to relocate possibly to Cali, please help!!

Ok, Im considering moving very soon and California is on the list of places where I would consider living. I hate it over here in the DC metro area it sucks bad and I need a new environment. I wanna move somewhere where of course, there is a big import scene. So on the list I have two at the top Cali and Florida. I wanna be somewhere where it is warm most of the time. What is a good city in California that is good to live in with good jobs, warm climate, import scene, etc. ?

Help me out guys

We have a really good import scene up here in Nor Cal, but nothing compared to So Cal. I was out at the races last night and we had a good couple hundred people out there. My area rarely gets the big shows, but the Bay and So Cal do. It depends on what kind of enviornment you want. I personally don't like it up here in Nor Cal very much, but if you like less people, lots of green, and more expensive housing, Nor Cal would do ya good. There's hella job opportunities up here, people are constantly pouring in, and housing and buildings are being built incredibly fast. The weather up here in the Sac Valley is pretty consistent.....warm year round with only like less than a month of a "rainy season", no snow (due to the low elevation), close to the Sierra Mountains, close to lakes and rivers, and about an hour from the bay. The bay has a much cooler climate, more expensive to live, a bigger scene than the Valley, and much more stuff to do. But So Cal has more of everything, and I like it better down there (that's why I'm moving back after my next 2 semesters )
I'd choose Cali over Florida though, humidity and hurricanes suck, lol

So. Cali would definitely be the place to move to then. You want Close to the scene? Gotta go to LA. You want REAL close? Move to the San Gabrial valley area specifically, cites such as Alhambra, Rosemead, San Gabrial are all import heven cities as I'd call them, modded out imports are EVERYWHERE there. Good luck with the move.

i have yet to see any well done imports around here. most are road toilets driven by some high school punk -Drift

hmm so sounds like SoCal is the way to go. But my thing is, im not sure how i could get a job out there when im over here. I cant leave unless i have the job, and the job is the only thing holding me back right now. Im in the IT field, tech support, and im sure there is a lot of jobs out there in that field. Also, it is very expensive over here and I am tired of paying alot for that muffler. As far as apartment living, 1 bedrooms average $1000 a month and I look at FL for the same thing they offer like 500 a month. IM like why am i living here. Plus , i just want like a all year round warm weather atmosphere with a suburb touch no city. I like to be close to the city but not in it. I would like to be at least 30 min. from the city. Could you tell me what is the best way to get a job out there when im over here, and what would be the best city to be in for inexpensive apartments? I dont like the eastcoast much anymore, and i know the import scene is much better over there. Everytime parts i order come from Cali.

well...as for me...i lived both in s.cal and n.cal...i would say:

S.Cali is the place to go for low rent...dunno about the IT field down there though...but there are a lot more different jobs available. Everything is fairly close.

N.Cali...it sux...people are still constantly getting laid off...jobs are fairly hard to find in the IT field...you have to be extraordinary and willing to get paid extremely low because the economy is still kinda screwed ...rent is expensive...and you gotta travel to get to places... especially in the bay area...you are looking at some very weird weather...one day it could be extremely hot...the next...freezing... San Jose in the other hand though is pretty much kinda like a mini S.Cali ...the warmth stays there but still expensive on rent and hard to find jobs. As for Sacramento...RedY2KCivic already got it covered...I personally have no clue of what happens there...

If you are still lost about making the decision...PM me your phone # and we'll talk...tell me what time you sleep so i dont wake you... latez

You might want to look into OC. Freeways everywhere, close to LA (10 minutes to LB, 30 to SG Valley, 45 minutes to downtown), plenty of import shops and honda/import owners, nice weather, I think you can find an apt. for 500-800 in a decent area (huntington beach, costa mesa, etc...) actually, quite a few aftermaket parts companies are located in OC, including Wings West, Import Tuner and Apex...

As far as work goes, I really don't know - I'm in IT and I haven't had too much trouble finding work. You have a lot of tech companies in the Irvine area... I used to deliver pizza, made 15-20/h, not bad for driving your car around all night. Check monster.com for jobs in LA, OC, and LB, apartments.com for housing...

Major OC drawback: nightlife sucks. You'll have to drive to LA for that...just about everything here closes early (weekends at 10 or 11pm)...

Hope this helps...

Man u guys are really good help I really appreciate it. From the way u guys are talkin sounds like Cali is a pretty expensive place to live. I looked thru the apartments there and they start off around 1200 for one bedrooms. Thats krazy, where as in FL its 500. But I guess the lack of pay makes up for the difference. Tuff decision, I have been to FL already, now I must take a road trip to Cali to get a good prospective on what I should do next. I think im gonna go to a car show out there and get an idea of how it is. I just got the new Sport Compact Car magazine and it had the front page talkin about Street racing in Cali. Looked phat so im very interested in coming there. Thanks again guys, anymore input you have is appreciated.

u might want to think twice about so cali. Its real expensive place to live. People move out here cuz of the warm climate. Dont get me wrong the import scene is the big down here but the cost of living is going to kill ya. I was born and raised here all my life and looking to leave cuz of the rent and the cost of homes are becoming much higher than the average income. If you decide to come here the first thing u might want to do is to look for a good paying job. Not a great paying job but good paying something that you wouldnt feel over whelm. I hope everything works out.

Nor Cal isn't so bad! I moved from the Central Valley of CA, around the Sacramento area. The rent out there is around 500-600 bucks for an apartment that is decent, you could always commute like everyone else does around here to the Bay. You'd get to drive your car which is a plus hehe. When you're in the bay you could check out all the car shops they have out there, and when you're in the Valley, there's Hot Import Nights at the Sacto Race Way, or used to be at least. California isn't all that bad, I'm moving back soon enough

I dunno, the bay area isnt all its cracked up to be but thats probably cause im from Napa. I will probably move out to the central valley later in life, or washignton, cause then I can work and live there with no income tax, and then drive over to oregon and buy shit with no sales tax
