Looking for car suggestions

Ok I'm first off ill be turning 16 soon. So im looking for a car. Im not going to come in here and ask what the best "street racer" is for a 16yr old kid, you guys would just lecture me, ive already had that from my dad. So im looking for something with a some power. Will do well with little bolt on mods, and would be good to learn on. id prefer to have a mid 14's car or so. So any suggestions would help.

Take a performance driver training school. Until then, you'll be fine in a Tercel.

If you want something decent and not too expensive try a Maxima. But I'm serious about the Tercel.

Whats your budget? Anything you will rule out (i.e. american, FWD, etc)? Who is paying for insurance? Do you have any firm requirements (i.e. safety)? Where do you live (i.e. lots of ice). Just saying OMG GIMME CARS! doesn't give much of a frame of reference for someone.

my budget is around $5000. I'd rather not have FWD. I live in missouri so sometimes ice sometimes not. and ill pay for some insurance and my parents will pay for some.

ok so id say if theirs ice at all go with a rear wheel drive car plus they are a lil faster but id say for that price u could pick up a 1998 or maby 99 crown vic those are nice cars big trunks lots a room its got a v8 not shure if ur allowed that but if ya are a crown vic is nice not so good on gas tho insurance is pretty good on em btw for my 1st car was a crown vic at 14 years old

Why in the world would you suggest RWD on ice? You have no weight over tires = even worst traction in ice.

I would suggest looking into 95-99 Nissan Maximas. They are quick enough you don't get laughed at, great relibiality (both mechanically and features) decent gas mileage (my 92 SE got 22 city/28 HWY) and are pretty easy on insurance.

ok id say rwd because i learned from past experiences plus in the winter i put sand bags in my trunk but saying u go over a ditch or somthing you cant get ur tires will just spin but uf ur rear wheel drive then you have a better chance of getting out or id also recomend a 4wd definatly not a fwd

The weight of sandbags in the trunk is likely less than the weight of engine over the front wheels.

I thought it was pretty well established that FWD > RWD in snow/ice conditions. All this of course it just for accelerating as your braking will be similar regardless. But it is much easier for your rear end to get out from you than the front.
