Question trouble codes, 0341, 0507

i have a 98 sl with 1.9 w/ sohc. i have just purchased a code reader. the code is telling me ...p0341..cam location signal error....and ..p0507..idle rpm too high. what or where is the cam location sensor and how do i change the idle to idle properly. i am used to engines that don't have computers. i have a chilton saturn book, but it is not much help. how can i correct the problem causing these codes? or where do i start?

Well, I can't help you specifically but I can tell you that the idle is not adjustable. Something is telling the PCM to increase the idle speed. That could be a number of things but its most likely a vacuum leak or a bad Idle Air Control motor. Someone else might have more insight.

Re: trouble codes, 0341, 0507

po341 is kind of a fluke on a saturn. its detecting a high resistance/misfire. there is no cam sensor on a saturn, it has a cam sync generator which is apart of the ignition module below the coils. id say you need to check your intake gasket. spray carb n choke or starting fluid around the the intake to head surface and see if the engine rpms change.

once youve done that, then come back with any information and go from there.

well it looks like your help worked. the 0507 seems to have been a crack in the pcv hose, replaced that. and the 0341, i replaced the plug wires and plugs. been over 1 hundred miles and no check engine light on. so thanks guys!!
