Carbon Fiber Substitute

Is there a substitute for carbon fiber decals? I just want to make an aluminum muffler look like the carbon fiber custom ones. I don't have any decals. Thanks for any help.

Re: Carbon Fiber Substitute

I think model masters makes a spray paint called metallic black or black metallic thats look alot like carbon when its done. I have used it a few times in place of the decals and its pretty close.

How a color can simulate the pattern of the Carbon ? Color maybe, but never the pattern. Maybe you never saw Carbon Decals.

Anyway, You can do that with paint, but you need a mesh or a Photo-Etched Pattern. You paint black, then you paint Silver using the mesh or Pattern.

Tamiya explain that while using a mesh (better result with templates):

You will need an airbrush and some practice before doing it. Or simply buy CF decals.
