cigar lighter wiring
im trying to replace the cigar lighter in my 97 contour. the wires were unhooked. it looks like there are two wires back there that are attached, but there are 3 plug heads and only two on the lighter. ive tried connecting them and i keep blowing the fuse... lighter and dash lights. can anyone tell me how they connect...which plug to which "tabs" on the lighter? doesnt seem that complicated...but im at a loss. thanks very much.

Are all the wires the same color? Do you have a wiring diagram? If not, one maybe available at autozone.com
Generally speaking, The tab that goes to the center contact in the lighter is hot and the tab that connects to the case is ground. Use a test light to determine what wires are hot. The third wire may go to a light bulb if you have a lighted ring on your lighter.
