Idle roaming.

Hey- My 93 Metro 5 spd 1.0 litre has an idle problem and a intermitent problem with cutting out at higher speeds/ It probably is the same problem . On the idle it fast idles normally when engine cold but with in a few minutes of idling the idle will slow down and then speed up on its own. Sometimes it will idle real slow and start idling real rough and then die. I had put a new PCV valve in recently and i checked it the other day and it seemed like it was working properly. I checked for vacuum leaks and sprayed carb cleaner all over the TB and hoses but no increase in speed. Also wiggled all vacuum hoses when idling but nothing changes other than the random roaming of the idle. I did set the idle screw for a faster idle but it will still die.

Also sometimes (also intermitent) when going down the road it will act up and if you hold the gas pedal perfectly still and then let up on it ajust a little bit it acts like you took your foot off the gas pedal as the engine speed just drops to nothing but it doesnt die and if you give a little more gas it runs normal till you let off alittle again and it does the same thing. It acts like a TPS but i was looking for advice from all you guys out there before i replace anything..

THe plugs are in good shape and car runs fine normally as I drive it everyday but now since this problem you have to feather the gas at stop lites as it may die if you let it idle on its own.And it sometimes has this intermitent drop in RPMs going downt the road.

I havent done a compression check on the motor yet as it does use oil but used to run good till this new problem started.

Thanks for any advice.
