Yep a none starter

Hi there to those of you guys that might be able to help me,went to start my 98' cabrio one morning over a week ago and she was just turning over...

I checked all Ht leads and so on,removed a plug and it was soaked in Fuel, then tested the Coil and there is no power feeding to the Coil(rules out dead Coil)...

I then decided to remove the battery wire, now i have alarm issues,i have read the little tips and tricks as regards the alarm on here so thats not a problem.

Right i have now changed the Ecm relay(no30),i have also fitted an Ignition Switch to my horror that didn't help, any help would be much appreciated,i have only owned the car for 2 weeks and im already regreting it bigtime~!

I have a Mk1 cabrio and damn ive never had nowhere near this amount of trouble, thought a Mk3 was a wise move... man was i wrong

Re: Yep a none starter

Right quick update, have gained in progress(thanks too this forum, where others have failed miserably).

I have now got power to the coil and have got round the immob and alarm waho0o0o,the car now starts but its running real bad,as if its running on 3 cylinders...and sound very tappety is this limp mode??

I'm guessing its something like that.will i need to get any codes removed to return the car back to normal running?,the car had no missfiring or tappet noise before i had the mentioned problems in my previous thread...

Re: Yep a none starter

how you get it started?

Its prob running very rich from cranking and no start. I would reccomend replacing the distributor cap and rotor. Also clean out the intake and maf sensor with intake cleaner.

Hi thanks for the reply should of updated sooner.

I noticed while it was running poorly that there was a ticking noise coming from the distributor cap,so i changed that and the rotor arm and all is well...

I previously had a low idle and accausional stall at junctions so i cleaned the throttle body out and Maf sensor prior to getting it started,so everything is great for now...

Now all i have to do is fix the damn vaccum joint i broke on the power locking pump so that my Fuel flap with unlock and then Fuel her up
