Death of a DSM

READ my dyno post in performance first so you know what I'm talking about!

So me and the other car I mentioned in my dyno post (go read that) are on the highway heading home. Well, we engage in a certain activity that isn't forum postable I think. You take a guess. It's also on video Maybe you can PM me for the video when it's online.

Anyway, during this event, he performs only a hair better than me. It involved 60-100, heh. Something's wrong, he just made over 100whp than me. BAMM! A bigass spark flies out of his vented carbon fiber hood, and his engine is runing like shit. So we get off the highway and me and 3 other dsm'ers go over this car frantically. We touch all the bases, no intercooler piping loose, timing looks perfect, all the injectors are seated properly, everything's fine. The car almost sounds like it's running on only 3 cylinders. We pull plugs 4-3-2- in that order, the engine stumbles. However, in cylinder 1, no change. We pull the plug out, and find this

So we hope to God that end of the plug isn't what shot out his external wastegate. We load in another BPR7ES plug. Nothing, that cylinder is dead. My guess is that he had been knocking this whole time. If you read my dyno thread in performance, you'll see that he showd 0.0 knock at all time. When he finally put enough load on the engine on the highway, he detonated and shot that part of the plug through the wastegate. Keep in mind cylinder 1 is closest to the wastegate. These are brand new plugs. This situation is still under works, we're still figuring out what damage has been done. It had to be towed home. I'll post results when I have them. The worst part is, he had just got his dsm running about 2 weeks ago after it being down for about 3 months or so.

Once I get the video, I'll let ya'll know, and I can email the link to people I know. Keep it to yourselves guys, thanks.

Re: Death of a DSM

Wow...that's shiitty, I saw this post originally on srtforums, but didn't know you were the other car, damn...small world. Why were your numbers so low? Was it a boost leak or something? But hey, on the bright side...time for a fully built engine for your friend

I'd like to see the video.

Sucks to hear that man. Is a rod hanging out the side of the block?

Re: Death of a DSM

That really sucks. It is kinda hard to get online here and read all these wierd problems and people blowing their engine then go out and drive my car... it almost looks good enough to just sit there though .

I would also like to see the video.

Re: Death of a DSM

Is those plug come with 2 year warranty ? cause my bpr6es bought from advan auto did. I think you can come there and swap out a new set for free ( do that every oil change ).
