2001 balljoints

Need to replace the front right upper balljoint got about a 1/2 in play. Went for an insp. sticker Saturday and they were going to put a reject sticker on it. Talked him out of it and he put a good sticker on it.

My question is was there ever a recall on this truck a dodge 1500 quad cab 4x4 with 55k miles just use for regular driving. Going to call the dealer Monday morning to see if there was. Got some prices here local and they want $188 from Pep Boys, $200 from the inspection station and $235 from Mieneke Muffler here in Boston with a wheel alignment. Meineke said he would not warranty if no alignment. Find hard to believe replacing a bllljoint needs an alignment.

is there a site i can go to to see what the warranty is for most yrs of Dodges and also the Recalls?

There is a sight, I'm not sure what it is, but I don't believe there is a recall. I was just talking to my cousin tonight about this very issue. These trucks have a problem with ball joints and nobody that I found has put out an aftermarket fix that i know of. The funny thing is that the brand new joints have 1?2 in play before they are installed. Yes, you need an alignment afterwards, and most times new bearings because quite often they get damaged when pulling the hub assembly. They can be a real b--ch to get off, the 1500 are easier than the heavier models though.
