Tamiya Honda S2000 finished pics

I managed to finish the S2000 in about 2 weeks, which has to be a record for me. As I mentioned in my other thread on this model, it is meant to be a near exact replica of my roomates real 1:1 car. The only diference is the wheels (hers are 5 spoke) and of course the left side steering in the model. I tried to get a close up view of the interior so you could see the dash buttons and the carpeting, but wasnt to successful. You may have to adjust the brightness on your monitor to see anything. I finished this in Tamiya Chrome Yellow and several coats of clear. The paint came out so smooth that there is no need for compound or polish. The front end of the car must be lowered a couple scale inches to be convincing. I should have "mocked up" the front of the car before painting, because the openings for the headlights are way to small. Oh well, live and learn. Let me know what you think:

Fantastic finish, I like that alot but i agree with Xen and think a wash in the panel lines will make a big differece.

I'm not against panel lines, i'm all for it! Just not keen on the pens, i think subtlety is the key!!!

I think it looks better without the lines. It makes the car look cleaner, and the black lines make them look like models. A lot of people like to make them look realistic. Without the line makes them look somewhat more realistic.

Question about the clear coat: How long did you wait after you sprayed the yellow, how many coats of clear did you gvie it, and how long between each coat of clear? thanks!

Thanks for all the complements again, everyone! I am not planning on putting in panel lines because this is not exactly the most exciting subject for me. I have trouble getting really excited about anything with less than 8 cylinders. I do really like the car, it`s just that I have a F50, a Z06 vette, and an anniversary SS Camaro on queue which will all take alot of my time and I am really excited about. I agree to that sometimes panel lines can make the car look less realistic. I was thinking about trying a cark yellow panel line wash instead of straight black. Maybe sometime I`ll get around to it. Maybe I will put the rear-view mirror in to. :frog: :frog: :licker: :smoker2: :smoker2: :sun:

I waited about 20 minutes of the last coat of Yellow before I sprayed the clear. I waited about 15 minutes between each coat and put 4 or 5 coats on. I am really pleased with the results. I am going to try this same aproach on my Z06 once I figure out what color I want it.
