I rebuilt the 700R4 in my 86 Camaro. Reverse is good. I have no response in OD. When in drive, it shifts thru all the gears, it seams like it goes into OD when in drive. I also doesn't have a good kicdown. I'v rebuilt several engines, but this is my first trans rebuild. Thought I would give it a try. With the car in drive, it runs pretty good. Any ideas on what I have installed wrong would be a big help.

Re: 700R4 Trans Fix
Did you adjust the TV cable correctly? And are you sure it is hooked up at the trans end?

Re: 700R4 Trans Fix
Could be the torque converter control(TCC) solinoid...try this...
While driving at like 45 mph and accelerating, push the break pedal lightly...If it is working, your car will suddenly feel like it isnt getting as much power(rpms will eather raise or drop slightly, cant remember) If that doesnt happen then this could be the problem...also, drop the kick panel on the drivers side and check the switches that feel you have pushed the break pedal(one if for the break lights, the other sends a signal to the TCC) check and makeshure it is mounted properly and that the button is comming out when the break pedal is pushed....after I had my tranny rebuilt, I stumbled upon thin by accident, the plastic housing was tweaked so it thought the break pedal was always being pushed...not good. It was a sunday so I new I couldnt get a replacement right away, so I took it off, took it apart, put the housing in boiling water for a few minutes, then took it out, forced it too the right shape, and held it like that till it cooled, then I put the switch back together and it has worked fine since, but I will probably replace it soon anyway

Re: 700R4 Trans Fix
I adjusted the TV cable. The kickdown now works. I drove the car around the block a few times (1 mile around the block). Good thing I parked it, a police started cruising around, no tags on the car. Anyway the trans shifted good and went into overdrive in the drive posistion. Still no response in the OD posistion. I couldn't tell if the TCC was working. I'll try it again next time.

Re: 700R4 Trans Fix
i think your linkage may be off, sounds like it's actually in neutral when you put it in the OD position.
a way to check that is to put it all the way down in 1st and accellerate forward and see if it'll shift into 2nd, if it does, then the linkage is off by 1. If it doesn't shift into 2nd, then I have no clue.

Re: 700R4 Trans Fix
Linkage is ok. Must be something internal.
