Unhappy screwed up my crankshaft

My Jeep is a 94 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 5.2 L and I just bought a j/y engine and was going to put in a new timing chain. Well I put in the harmonic balancer retaining bolt to turn the crankshaft and line up the timing marks. Well I put the bolt in hand tight starting the threads by hand then I turned the bolt with a wrench and when I got the timing marks lined up and was going to turn out the bolt it was stuck in the shaft. By the time I got it out it had messed up the threads. My question is can I have the threads fixed w/o removing the crank shaft? I only tore up about an inch of thread maybe I could drill that are just a little bit bigger and then get a longer bolt and catch the remaining threads?

Smile Re: screwed up my crankshaft

Got it fixed. Took out crank and took it to machine shop and had it drilled and tapped.
