E34 M20 1998 model

Hi everybody. I drive a 1998model e 34 with a m20 motor ( I think) and I'm trying to find the oil filter. I do have a repair manual but it doesnt show where the filer is. I think it should be a spin on filter but where is it?
Hope somebody can help.

cheers

Re: E34 M20 1998 model

I assume you mean 1988 not 1998 since the E34 dates to that era. On my 89 E34 with M20 engine the spin on filter is located on the front right side of the engine below the exhaust manifold. It's a little bit difficult to reach, but not impossible. I can usually remove mine by hand using rubber gloves. Better if the engine is cool, since that exhaust manifold can be really hot...

I buy filters at my local auto parts store. You can find and order filters online. Here is one possibility....

If you have a 1998, its not a E34 with M20....

Sorry, yes it is a 1989 model. Thanks for your help, I looked everywhere yesterday and couldn't find it.
One more problem I have is that the headlights sometimes turn off completly. Anybody here had the same problem?
Thanks again
cheers
