factory keyless entry and alarm

Ok I am really confused now, I swapped out a stereo and now my keyfob does not work anything, the light is not flashing on the dash either. I also tried to adjust the setting for it by removing the fuse and turning key back and tuningf on off the parking lights. I get confirmation that each adjustment is made but can not get the light to flash anymore or get the doors to lock, horn to blow or the trunk to open. Please help me please. I also lost the dic but found a wire I had to connect to a hot with key on wire. It now lights up again.
John

bnaylor3400 has a 97 GTP which has a different security programming proceedure than my 99 gt, so when he reads this, I'd bet he'll have your answer.

Hi, AF Fanatic.
You are sound knowledgeable in this topic. I have Grand Prix GTP 1999 (4-doors).
I have new remote and already tried to program it.
Could you please check my sequence and suggest what I am doing wrong:
1. Sit in a car and close all doors.
2. Remove the "mall PGM' fuse.
3. Insert key and turn back to accessory.
4. Turn key to off position and wait for 1/2 sec.
5. Turn key to accessory.
6. Open and close one of the doors.
According to instructions I should hear a chime when program mode is started,
but nothing happening in my case
.
Rest of instruction suggest: I should press and hold LOCK and UNLOCK buttons
for 14 sec. (after 7 sec. first chime and after 14 sec. second chime)
Remove key, insert fuse.
Any advice are welcome, thank you in advance
Mike12045.

Re: factory keyless entry and alarm

mike- i had this problem when i was doing the same procedure- and i believe you have the right one. the problem you might be experiencing is that when you turn the key from acc to off then back to acc, this must be done fastly. and the door open/ close must be done even faster. are you sure you have the right remotes?
here is the procedure i used on my 01 gt:
1 Get in car and close all doors.
2 Pull the “mall pgm” fuse.
3 Insert key and turn ignition to ACCESSORY. (back 1)
a. Listen for bell(s).
b. Turn ignition off and quickly back to ACCESSORY.
4 Open and close door.
a. Should hear 1 bell to confirm diagnostic mode.
5 Press and hold both the lock and unlock buttons on the RKE transmitter.
a. Hold buttons for approx. 15 seconds.
b. Bell should chime after 7 seconds, continue to hold for second bell.
6 Repeat step 5 for each transmitter. (max 4) (1 bell after 1st transmitter.)
7 Turn ignition off.
8 Replace “mall pgm” fuse.
9 Open Doors.
10 Test transmitters

NOTE: Have all of your remotes on hand when starting this process. Resetting one will cause all others to not function. You must reset all devices at the same
